Social networking sites unleash flood of police complaints PDF Print E-mail

Several Internet users are approaching the Delhi Police to save themselves from being harassed through social networking sites. The police said that in the last one year, they have received over 200 complaints regarding morphed and derogatory profiles on Orkut and Facebook. Unable to nail down the real culprit, the police are approaching the sites to delete obscene contents if they receive a complaint from any user.

"Almost everyday we receive a complaint against the social networking sites. We then direct the website to delete objectionable content against the users or the profile itself," said a senior police officer. People are using Orkut as a tool to settle personal scores, said the police.
